Welcome to The Ginger Man Houston!  What’s new in our world of beer?

Featured Beers of the Month

Lone Pint Gentleman’s Relis Nitro: Lone Pint’s  Brown Ale gives a nod to the Northern English Brown style. However, since defeating the English in 1783, it is analogistic that the American version be stronger to reflect on England’s vanquishment. Gentleman’s Relish uses Maris Otter malt as the base, augmented with dark crystal and chocolate malts. Whole cone English hops are used throughout the boil, imparting their characteristic smooth bitterness. The beer is named after an Englishman’s favorite snack, an anchovy paste, typically eaten on toast.

Petrus Aged Pale: Aged? Many beers have a long maturation, but this one has only 24-36 months in oak barrels. Pale? This beer has an old gold to bronze color, rather than the burgundy more common in the breweries of West Flanders. This is the ‘mother beer,’ used in various quantities to blend with the other Petrus beers, and to give them their unique and very distinctive taste. This mother beer is rather sour with a bite like the best Brut Champagnes. A connoisseur’s delight! The only one of its kind on the U.S. market.

Kasteel Cuvée du Château: The taste of Cuvée du Château is comparable to that of an aged Kasteel Donker, reminiscent of port. This ‘premier cru classé’ was developed in the style of a quadrupel. In this type of strong, dark brown beer that veers between sweet and bitter, malt has the upper hand. The Cuvée du Chateau has the characteristics of a madeirised beer, with initial hints of roast and caramelised malt, followed by delicate hop bitters in the finish. A fully-fledged gastronomic beer.
