Featured Beers of the Month

De Brabandere Petrus 80/20 (Sour Red/Brown)

A blend of 80% Aged Pale and 20% Aged Red.  Aged Pale is 100% “Mother Beer” aged in Oak Foeders.  The gold standard for sour beers in the USA.  Aged Red is 85% Dubbel Buin base with 15% Petrus Aged Pale added to give it a sour essence. Fresh cherries are added to complete the sweet and sour balance.

Castle Brewery Van Hounsebrouck St Louis Fond Tradition (Gueuze)

St. Louis Gueuze Fond Tradition is a pure traditional gueuze aimed at beer connoisseurs. It has the pure base of a true gueuze based on a blend of young and old lambics. Fruity apple aromas stand out. When tasting, the slightly sour touches, characteristics of lambic beers, makes their presence felt. It is very dry in the finish.

Bosteels Triple Karmeliet

Triple Karmeliet is brewed with barley, wheat and oats and could even be considered a six-grain beer as each of these grains is used in their raw and malted forms. This three-grain beer brewed with Steiermark hops has good herbal flavors. It owes its fruity character (banana and vanilla) to the home-cultured yeast. The vanilla mingles with the orange-like aroma from the hops. Not only does it have the lightness and freshness of the wheat, it also has the creaminess of oats and a herbal, lemony dryness almost reminiscent of quinine. There is plenty of citrus in the note, also bitter lemon and sugar. A bit of malt on the tongue combined with sweet ripe fruit – exotic like banana. The finish also offers light citrusy touches but sweet malts as well.

Duvel Moortgat Duvel (Golden Ale)

A Duvel is still seen as the reference to strong golden ales. It’s bouquet is lively and tickles the nose with an element of citrus which even tends towards grapefruit thanks to the use of only the highest-quality of hop varieties. This is lso reflected in the flavor, which is beautifully balanced with a hint of spiciness. Thanks to its high CO2 content, this beer has a wonderful roundness in the mouth. A Duvel is the perfect thirst quencher and an ideal aperitif.
