Each year on the 20th August, beer drinkers from all over the world celebrate St Bernardus Day. The brewery has been brewing Belgian beers under the St Bernardus brand since 1992, however the beer recipes have been in existence a lot longer and originated from Monks.
The brewery brews a range of Abbey beers, including a wheat beer, dark beers and a blond triple. All of the beers are top-fermented and only two types of malt are used – a pale malt and a dark roasted malt.
To celebrate St Bernardus Day, we are featuring St. Bernardus Abt 12!
St Bernardus Abt 12 is a dark, strong beer with an ABV of 10%. It is classed as one of the best beers in the world and has naturally won a lot of beer awards. The recipe dates back to 1946 and is brewed as a classic Belgian quadruple. It is best drunk between 8-12 degrees Celsius. From a food pairing point of view, we recommend any beef dishes, blue cheese and even chocolate.
